It is a lovely rural, residential community west of Eumundi —known as Eerwah until about 1890, when the name was actually changed because of its similarity to Beerwah outside Brisbane. Eerwah Vale is about 20 km southwest of Noosa Heads and encloses the headwaters of the North Maroochy River and several of its tributaries. Mount Eerwah is in a conservation park south of the Eumundi-Kenilworth Road and is a good hike — a short one but fairly tricky — with views to the west. The track is quite steep and slippery and perhaps not to be attempted alone if you are inexperienced, and to be avoided altogether in the wet or if you are afraid of heights.
